Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Requirements
St. Benedict Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K) requirements
Transitional Kindergarten TK Enrollment Requirements
- TK students that enroll early must complete 2 years of our TK program
- Must be 4 years old by December 1st of the TK school year, otherwise must agree to two years of TK program.
- TK students must meet the potty training requirement. No exceptions.
* Potty Training Requirement*
Must be fully potty trained. No potty accidents. No pull-ups/diapers. Students must be able to complete restroom self care independently, this includes undressing, wiping themselves and washing hands. No exceptions.
Kindergarten (K) Enrollment Requirements
Requirements for TK students transitioning to K students
- Must be 5 years old by December 1st of the Kindergarten school year.
- Pass the final TK test focusing in kindergarten readiness. (*Kinder readiness consists of skills listed below)
- TK students that do not pass the final TK test will be required to attend kindergarten summer school. No Exceptions.
Requirements for New St. Benedict Kindergarten Students:
- Must be 5 years old by December 1st of the Kindergarten school year.
- Students are able to perform independent bathroom practices.
- Independently pass the kindergarten readiness test.
* Kindergarten readiness test consist of the following:
- fine motor skills (gripping correctly and writing control with a pencil)
- letter identification
- cutting with scissors
- write his/her name
- number identification and counting
- shape identification
- color identification
- demonstrates classroom readiness (sit for a lesson's length of time, follow teacher directives)
- demonstrates social and emotional readiness (displays self-control, adaptability, civility, patience, pays attention)
** New students that meet the kinder age requirement but do not pass the kindergarten readiness test will be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten.
